Profile
I'm a graphic designer and printmaker living in Washington, DC. This site is intended to document range of my work. I feel design is a collection of disciplines, and the content here is meant to reflect that. For the sake of simplicity I was going to make a one-page portfolio site. But it quickly became too large and there were subjects which warranted larger sections to themselves. So this is basically a collection of one-page sections. I kept the framework and text elements of the site very quiet and neutral so they would hopefully not compete or distract from the work. I recommend a high-speed connection for using this site.
I graduated from RISD in 2004 with a BFA in Graphic Design. Originally from Frederick, Maryland, I moved back to the area after graduating and worked at Designfarm, a small design company in Takoma Park, Maryland. I later freelanced for NANA Design and Fuszion, and am currently the senior graphic designer at MV+A Architects in Bethesda, Maryland.
Posters are obviously a subject of interest to me. I make them, trade and sell them, and maintain my own collection of others' work. I've found a good balance in working with local bands and the occasional promoter. Getting to print my own posters is an important part of the process to me. Similarly important to me is that posters be used to promote the concert or event, not just to be used as a souvenir at the merchandise table.
I am a strong believer in responsibility in design, and much prefer to work with companies where responsibility and sustainability is a priority.
